About Dr. Mehdi Hamadani

Dr. Hamadani is a Professor of Medicine and Chief of Hematologic Malignancies at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He also serves as the Co-Associate Director of Clinical Research at the MCW Clinical Cancer Center and holds the Cancer Center Scholar Endowed Chair. With a distinguished career in hematology, he specializes in the treatment of hematopoietic cell transplantation, cellular therapy, and lymphoid malignancies. Dr. Hamadani’s clinical expertise spans a wide range of diseases, including Hodgkin’s lymphoma, leukemia, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Dr. Hamadani completed his medical degree at King Edward Medical College in Pakistan, followed by an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at The Ohio State University. Over the years, Dr. Hamadani has established himself as a leading authority in hematopoietic cell transplantation and cell-based therapies, particularly for lymphoid malignancies.

As an internationally recognized key opinion leader, he has authored more than 400 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Hamadani is deeply involved in clinical trial design and has played a central role in the development and execution of practice-changing transplant clinical trials. He is currently the Principal Protocol Officer for the Bone Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network and chairs the American Society for Transplant and Cellular Therapies Committee on Practice Guidelines. In addition, Dr. Hamadani serves as the Secretary for the American Society for Transplant and Cellular Therapies for the 2024-2026 term. His research focuses on graft-versus-host disease, developmental therapeutics for lymphoid malignancies, and improving outcomes in hematopoietic cell transplantation.

Mentoring junior faculty and trainees is a top priority for Dr. Hamadani, who is dedicated to fostering the next generation of researchers and clinicians. He joined the Blood Cancers Today editorial board in 2025 as a So Editor-in-Chief.
