Stephen M/ Ansell, MD, PhD

Stephen Ansell, M.D., Ph.D., serves as a professor of medicine and currently holds leadership roles at Mayo Clinic, including chair of the Division of Hematology, co-leader of the Hematological Malignancies Program, and interim chair of the Department of Oncology.

Dr. Ansell is widely recognized for his contributions to hematology and oncology. He has earned distinctions such as the Ernest Beutler Award from the American Society of Hematology and a Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. His professional affiliations include membership in the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the Lymphoma Research Foundation. He also lends his expertise as a reviewer and editorial board member for leading journals like Blood, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and JAMA Oncology. In addition to research, he has led educational initiatives on lymphoma biology and treatment and has mentored numerous fellows and junior faculty.

Dr. Ansell’s research centers on lymphoma, particularly the tumor microenvironment, immune system interactions, cytokine pathways, and the development of new treatment strategies. His work has been supported by grants from government agencies, private foundations, and industry partners. He has authored more than 400 scientific publications, including journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts.
