Ayalew Tefferi, MD, on Career Development as a Clinician-Investigator

In this episode of “Blood Cancer Talks,” Dr. Tefferi, of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, joins hosts Raj Chakraborty, MD; Ashwin Kishtagari, MD; and Edward Cliff, MD, to discuss career development as a clinician-investigator.

Dr. Tefferi discussed how to choose the right mentors, how to balance the clinical and the research, and how to become a “master physician.”

He also recounted his background immigrating to America from Ethiopia as a political refugee and becoming a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic.

“If you have the appropriate perseverance and work ethic, anything is possible,” he said.
