Karun Neupane, MD, of the Jacobi Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, discusses why the Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO) was a valuable experience for him as a first-time attendee.
“The good thing about SOHO for me was I was able to focus on one session at a time and really had this time and space to meet with a lot of people,” he said.
This is critical for him as a trainee, he said, as he is currently applying for fellowships and hopes to make as many connections and learn as much as possible during conferences.
“In the bigger conferences I used to get lost, I did not know who I should be talking to because everybody is busy, there are too many sessions happening at the same time,” he said.
